Getting married is an important life step that you have chosen to take with your significant other. You have been planning your day to perfection either with a wedding planner or on your own and now your wedding day is only a few days away. Are you starting to feel the anticipation build up. This is an exciting day I know. You might be starting to feel a little bit of stress at all those potential "what if" situations.
So how do you avoid stress on your big day?
Here are my tips on avoiding stress with your big day:
Even if you have a wedding planner, make sure that you are organised with all the details . Some wedding planners don't have anything to do with organising wedding outfits, rings etc and these are then the things you need to stay on top of. Keeping organised means that you can stay on top of everything. If you are disorganised this results in stress and chaos. If you are planning your wedding on your own, make sure that you have kept all your planning notes, supplier briefs, proof of payments etc in an organised space (it is easier if this is done digitally). Create a folder on your computer and have that as your specific space for all your wedding paperwork. Keep spreadsheets. You can find platforms online that will help you plan your wedding and keep everything in one space. I could go on about how you can keep organised but I think you get the picture now...
Take the time to make detailed briefs with your suppliers. Make sure you both know and understand what expectations are. I would also suggest that on top of written notes you provide them with images of what you want. This avoids misunderstandings and allows your suppliers to know exactly how to make your day special.
Ask for help. If you have already hired a wedding planner then you have already taken this step. If you are planning your wedding yourself make sure you ask a close friend or family member that you trust to help you with any details you need help with. There is nothing wrong with asking for help. Assign them tasks and make sure they give you all the details that you need to know.
If you have not already hired a wedding planner who includes coordination on the day, the best advice I can offer you to avoid stress on your big day is to hire a wedding coordinator. The point of hiring a wedding coordinator is to lift that stress for "what if" situations. Depending on the wedding coordinator in question (keep in mind that this could also be a wedding planner who you hire for just wedding coordination) you will hand over your plans a few weeks before, they might help you with final supplier confirmations, timeline creation and any other last minute details. They will then make sure that everything runs smoothly on the day of the wedding and they will make sure that all the details have been seen to. If any issues arise then they will take care of them and you won't have to worry about it.
