Welcome to the blog for Cathryn Emma Weddings and Events, I am so excited to introduce myself to you and to welcome you to my website. Planning a wedding or an event is a really enjoyable process (hence the reason I do it for a living). I have always enjoyed being in the hospitality industry and started out with my love for food, training professionally at Silwood School of Cookery in Cape Town, obtaining my Cordon Bleu after completing my final year with high-end caterer Annalize Catering in the heart of the winelands of Cape Town. I studied further and obtained my BA in Corporate Communications with the intent of shifting from the catering world to the events planning and management world.
Working for Annalize I was introduced into the world of events and saw many weddings and corporate events of varying sizes. Many of the weddings that Annalize catered for were in the beautiful landscape of the Western Cape wine lands at stunning venues where guests mingled and enjoyed the beauty of the vineyards. My joy for the events industry grew. I have gradually moved from catering into wedding and party planning and it has been the best move for me. There is something very special about putting together the different aspects of a wedding or a party. There is a magic that comes to life in and during the build-up to the celebration of that event. I love this process, I especially love watching the joy on the couple's faces when they see each other for the first time on their wedding day. The look on the faces of family and friends as they watch the exchanging of vows is an immensely special aspect of my job which I love. I have a great passion for creating elegant, classical and memorable occasions. The community of events industry suppliers is an amazing industry without which many of these events would not be able to take place.
I moved to England in order to join my family and have never looked back. I love this country with diverse traditions in the different parts of the country. I love working and living in the countryside as this forms such a great part of my childhood and my personality. Being able to walk out my door and go for a country walk, with my dogs, in the stunning English countryside, is possibly one of my greatest joys. I have 3 dogs (Dogmatix, Asterix and Mitzi) and a cat (Cosmic Creepers). Part of my joy of the countryside is being near my family and being able to cook hearty and joyous family meals. I love cooking good old fashioned home-cooked food and tend to lean more towards comfort food (especially Sunday roast potatoes). When I am not walking in the country or cooking in my spare time, you can find me reading and being cuddled by my cat. In the evenings I enjoying sipping a good glass of red wine (more often than not a South African wine) and spending time with family and friends.
