Just Engaged, so what next?

Congratulations on your engagement!

This is super exciting for you and I am sure you have opened that celebratory champaign and taken the opportunity to really enjoy this special moment. You may now be starting to think about what your next steps should be. I am also sure that you are thinking that with the new lockdown, now is not a good time to start planning your wedding, well I am here to tell you that there is no better time than the present to start planning. You don’t have to start implementing your plan, there is more than enough time to do that! You can however start to get some ideas flowing, start to think about the when and the where.

This is the ideal opportunity to get ahead on your research, start finding your inspiration on platforms such as Instagram, Pinterest and even Facebook. It is also a good time to start searching for suppliers, take a good look at their Instagram pages and their websites to see who they are and what they offer. You may be wondering how to tell which suppliers are still open for business, well you can often tell this by seeing how active they are on their social media. If they have been posting throughout this pandemic, then they are going strong! You will often see shoutouts from other suppliers to other their colleagues with what we refer to as supplier love, letting you know who we recommend for other services or products offered.

Start by creating your special planning journal where you will create your mood board (if you don’t have one online already or have a wedding planner/ designer create one for you), jot down any ideas, make notes on things you notice out and about that you want to include in your decorations. This will be your helping hand throughout your planning journey and will be incredibly useful for the big day itself. I am old school and I like an actual physical notebook but if digital is your game go for it and you can use trusty tools such as Canva to create things from your mood boards, to your floral inspiration. Keeping that notebook/journal is the ideal way for you to keep track of all your ideas and to keep on top of your progress.

There is no harm in making inquiries with wedding suppliers especially if you really want to hire that person and you want to make sure you can book them, send out enquires to find out if they are still taking bookings. Bookings for 2021 and 2022 are going quickly so, it is a good idea to show your interest now. Also start to consider looking into venues at this point. When lockdown is over, you can always make your booking to do a venue visit, you might even be able to do a virtual visit.

As I say, there is no better time than now to start planning your wedding, so take the opportunity to get going. Grab that notebook and start planning.

Feel free to pop me an email and we can arrange a complimentary consultation with regards to planning your wedding and how I can help you to have a relaxed and enjoyable planning experience.
